Jewish Disability Awareness Month – VOICES FROM El SAYED

El-Sayed is a picturesque Bedouin village in the Israeli Negev desert (with the largest percentage of deaf people in the world). What happens when one man decides to change his deaf son’s fate and make him a hearing person using the Cochlear Implant Operation? How do we both embrace who we are and what technology can help us become or achieve?

Purim – SURVIVING SKOKIE
(2015, 66 minutes)
They survived the horrors of the Holocaust and came to America to put the past behind. For decades they kept their awful memories secret. But their silence ended in 1977 when a band of neo-Nazis threatened to march in their quiet village of Skokie, IL. This intensely personal story explores one family’s journey from Poland to Skokie.

This series is in partnership with the JCC Ames Amzalak
Rochester International Jewish Film Festival and
the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester.
