Gell Intensive | Beyond the Nest (Rochester)

Gell Intensive

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 07/21/2018
In this one-day intensive workshop, students will immerse themselves in the study of their chosen genre with some of the area’s top writers and teachers.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

This intensive includes four hours of workshops with peers, generative exercises, and one publishing panel to discuss topics ranging from “How do I find an agent?” to “Should I submit to literary contests?” Some partial, needs-based scholarships will be available. All meals will be provided. If you missed out last year, here’s your opportunity to apply.

How to apply:

    • Submit 8-10 pages of your best work to submissions@wab.org by June 22. Accepted students will be notified on a rolling basis but by no later than June 29.
    • Accepted students must submit two stories, essays, or poems of no more than 15 pages to Writers & Books in advance of the workshop (each work will be workshopped). It can be the same work as that submitted in the application, but it should be work that you wish to have workshopped. Poets can submit multiple poems provided that the total page count does not exceed 15 pages.
    • Instructors include Ralph Black, Sarah Freligh, Kristen Gentry, Anne Panning, Stephen Schottenfield, and Sejal Shah.
