Shibori is the Japanese art of “resist dyeing”. By using different techniques such as wrapping, stitching or clamping to create a pattern when dyeing the fabric. “Resist” creates areas where the dye is not absorbed into the fabric resulting in a unique design or repeating pattern. In this workshop we will explore both natural dyeing and the Shibori techniques on a 27” X 20” piece of silk. Rust to gold will be the color hues for this workshop’s natural dying process. At the end of the session, your final piece will be a custom tapestry that is hemmed and dowel ready for display.
