Club McKenzie: Lincoln and Douglas - An Extraordinary Alliance

*The event has already taken place on this date: Wed, 02/12/2020
Join us as Dr. Joseph R. Fornieri, RIT Professor of Political Science, Director of the Center for Statesmanship, Law and Liberty and author of Abraham Lincoln: Philosopher & Statesman, shares his insights into our 16th presidents relationship with Frederick Douglas, abolitionist, activist, and author. Fornieri will provide us a sneak preview of his latest scholarship comparing the political and constitutional thought of the two great anti-slavery leaders.

Abraham Lincoln and Rochester's own Frederick Douglass were both great leaders who rose from poverty to become historic apostles of freedom and equality. Although their backgrounds were ostensibly different, and their meetings just a few, their extraordinary alliance provides great insight into their shared moral vision of the Union.
