Sometimes writing is spiritual, healing, a burst of creativity. But editing can feel like work. This workshop will help you hone your craft and prepare your manuscript for publication. You can look forward to engaging discussions on the craft of fiction and how to strengthen your writing through close reading and self-editing. The majority of class time will center on the critique and analysis of your work; accordingly, every participant is expected to share a piece of their writing (up to 12 pages, double spaced) for the class to read and edit. The last class will allow each participant to share their polished work with an audience.

Brian Wood is the author of Joytime Killbox, a collection of stories published by BOA Editions. He has served as the Managing Editor of Reed Magazine and the Fiction Editor for POST. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from San Jose State University, and his work earned him a Ludwig Scholarship for Excellence in Creative Writing, as well as the James Phelan Award for Short Fiction and Familiar Essays. He lives in Rochester, NY, where he is the co-host of the Two Month Review podcast produced by Open Letter Press. He can be found on Twitter at @BrianWood_.
