Producing NPR-Style News Stories for Radio

*The event has already taken place on this date: Wed, 02/03/2021
Radio journalism is a special form of news reporting. Audio hits differently than print. It communicates not only what was said, but how it was said. In this interactive, online workshop, you’ll receive a crash-course in producing short NPR-style news reports for radio.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

We’ll discuss:
-newswriting for radio, and how it’s different from print
-the essential audio components for any report–interview, voiceover,
and ambient sound–and how to gather them
-how to use free, open source software to edit your audio together

This workshop will be facilitated by Reclaiming the Narrative’s Darien Lamen. Participants who complete this workshop will have an opportunity to become contributors to Reclaiming the Narrative.
