Special Olympics WINTER GAMES

Nearly 1,000 athletes and coaches from across the state will participate in the 2020 Winter Games in Rochester, featuring competitions in Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Figure Skating, Floor Hockey, Snowboarding, and Snowshoe. Riverside Convention Center will be the host of Opening Ceremonies as well as the floor hockey competition site. Bristol Mountain Ski Resort, Swain Resort, Genesee Valley Sports Complex, and Cobbs Hill Park are also serving as competition sites. The Winter Games are one of two annual state games and one of more than 5,000 total competitions held each year throughout New York. All events are free and open to the public.

Opening Ceremonies: Friday, February 21 at 8 PM at Riverside Convention Center, featuring the Parade of Athletes, entertainment and the lighting of the Special Olympics Cauldron.

Athletic Competition: Saturday, February 22, in six Olympic-style sports.

Service Volunteers, Fans in the Stands, and Social Ambassadors are needed at Opening Ceremonies and all competitions!
