VIRTUAL EVENT: Art of the Japanese Tea Ceremony Webinar w/ Urasenke Tea Masters

*The event has already taken place on this date: Tue, 07/07/2020
Join New York Adventure Club as we explore the traditional Japanese tea ceremony of Urasenke, one of the main schools of Japanese tea ceremony, in conjunction with the Urasenke Chanoyu Center (UCC). Established in 1967 to promote the rich cultural tea tradition of Urasenke in New York City, the UCC is a private organization that teaches its members how to master this ancient tradition over the course of 10-15 years.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Experience one of Japan's oldest traditional tea ceremonies with two Tea Masters from the comfort of your living room.

Led by Marybeth & Philip, two Tea Masters of Urasenke, our unique and relaxing virtual experience will include:

- A brief overview of the Urasenke Chanoyu Center, from its days as an 1880s carriage house to studio of famed artist Mark Rothko

- A live, authentic Urasenke tea ceremony demonstration to learn about its history and philosophy, etiquette, and traditions

- How to make matcha green tea at home, and cultivate mindfulness and calm through tea — follow along by simply drinking your favorite tea, or by trying to make the exact tea using an authentic tea set (see 'Matcha Kits' section below)

- Insider tips on purchasing Japanese tea, and how to identify authenticity and quality

Afterward, we'll have a Q&A with Marybeth & Philip — any and all questions about Urasenke and Japanese tea ceremonies are welcomed and encouraged!

See you there, virtually!

*Immediately upon registering, you will receive a separate, automated email containing the link to join this webinar

**For the best possible viewing experience, please ensure you're using the latest version of your internet browser — Google Chrome is the most compatible. Exact technical requirements and a webinar user guide will be shared in the automated confirmation email upon registration.

***A full replay of the experience will be available to all registered guests for up to a week
