Going for Baroque is a weekly series of mini-recitals at the Memorial Art Gallery, offered each Sunday at 1:30 PM and again at 3:00 PM. It offers the opportunity for students from the Eastman School of Music to perform alongside professional musicians on the Italian Baroque organ on the second floor of the museum. The 25-minute mini-recital is included with museum admission.

Join artist Christin Lersch for a fun, hands-on workshop in which you’ll learn how to create felted mushrooms out of wool!

Learn the basics of spinning wool, a timeless skill that New Yorkers have been doing for generations! Guests will get to feel the differences between different breeds of wool, hone their skills using drop spindles. At the end of this hands-on journey, you’ll leave with a drop spindle and several ounces of wool roving to “ply” your new skills as home.

Immerse yourself in the world of 19th-century condiments as you craft your own ketchups, mustards, and flavorful vinegars from authentic historic recipes. Not only will you take home delicious samples of your creations, but you’ll also have the opportunity to prepare 3-5 exquisite recipes drawn from cherished cookbooks of the era. Join us for this enchanting culinary journey and savor the flavors of history.

Learn the fundamentals of cheesemaking in one of our 19th-century kitchens! Participants will make a hard cheese and bring home skills that they can use in their own kitchens. All participants must be age 16+; participants under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by a paid adult ticketholder.

In this workshop learn about 19th century embroidery and the basic stitches that were used then as well as now to create textile art. Participants will go home with a partially completed project, a hoop, needle, a selection of embroidery threads, and a guide covering all the stitches learned in class. All participants must be age 14+; all participants under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by a paid adult ticketholder. Tickets for this event will go on sale in July 2026.
