The Hochstein School’s free noontime Live from Hochstein concert series returns in person this spring on Wednesdays, March 23 to May 18, 12:10–12:50 pm in the Hochstein Performance Hall. The concerts feature local and regional ensembles as well as musicians from Eastman School of Music, Hochstein faculty members, and Hochstein students. Concerts are broadcast live on WXXI Classical.

The traditional Adirondack Pack Basket is as functional as it is treasured. With expert guidance from our experienced basket maker, Barb Betrus, you can weave your own pack basket that is certain to become an heirloom. Read more about Barb's work in this recent article from Mountain Home Magazine. Participants will use both flat and flat oval reed to create a 22” high pack basket. All materials and necessary tools are included in the cost of the program, including harness strapping to complete the basket. Students will need to bring their own lunches, water, and snacks each day.

One of the foremost songwriters of the twentieth century, Billy Joel’s music is beloved around the world. Eclectic, but always uniquely recognizable, his songs tell stories to the backdrop of his virtuosic piano playing.
This show celebrates the songs and the style of Billy Joel, evoking the energy and passion of live performances in his 70s/80s pomp, laying international smash hits such as ‘Just The Way You Are’, ‘New York State of Mind’, ‘Uptown Girl’, ‘Vienna’, ‘Scenes from an Italian Restaurant’, ‘Piano Man’ and many, many more; this superb group of multi-instrumentalists featuring renowned vocalists and piano players Rob Stringer and Alex Dee pay tribute to one of American music’s greats.
Sway in sync with the majestic red pines as the Finger Lakes Symphony Orchestra performs a selection of pops and light classical music. The natural atmosphere of the forest is the perfect backdrop for this family-friendly event. Refreshments will be available starting at 1pm, including wine and beer for purchase and complimentary refreshments. Children and adults alike are invited to meet the orchestra (and their instruments!) prior to the concert start at 3pm. Attendees are welcome to arrive earlier for a hike and to bring their own picnic lunch to make it a day-long outing.
