Campers will learn the basics of making a comic such as paneling, story boarding, inking, lettering, and character design. Using drawing and writing prompts, campers will either make a mini comic or a floppy (8-30 page comic) which will be shared at a casual reception with friends and family at the end of the week!

We will spend the week learning the essentials of writing and storytelling in a supportive setting. As a group, we’ll go over plot, tension, voice, and other aspects of storytelling across different formats and styles, using a diverse range of examples. Whatever you write, we’ll focus on the story and what makes it shine—what keeps readers reading and audiences interested. This camp will include ample time for writing and creative exercises, opportunities for feedback, mini-projects, and outings

In this camp we’ll talk about what makes screenplays work and learn basic techniques by focusing on structure, story, characters, dialogue, and format. We’ll watch scenes from different movie genres and break down the scripts to see how the writer made it all happen.
