Located in the heart of Rochester’s Neighborhood of the Arts, AXOM Gallery is within walking distance of the city’s major museums, cultural institutions, galleries, artisan shops and a variety of unique restaurants and coffee shops. Housed in an old industrial building; newly renamed as the Art & Design Building, the gallery is an extension of a working art and design studio. With high beamed ceilings, brick walls and large windows, AXOM Gallery provides a relaxed urban atmosphere where one can be quiet and think seriously about art.
AXOM Gallery developed through the combined interests of Robin, Rick and Margot Muto. Robin Muto has an interior and lighting design firm. Rick Muto is a practicing artist and specialist in architectural decorative arts. Their daughter, Margot Muto, grew up working in the family businesses and further developed her passion for the visual arts, through an extensive education in the Visual Arts. Margot was the Gallery Director for the first four years and it was her vision for the gallery that established Axom’s reputation as a high quality, professionally run gallery. Margot is now Director of Exhibitions at the Memorial Art Gallery and Rick Muto is the current Gallery Director.
