The Cognitive Neurophysiology Lab is a group of scientists, clinicians, and technicians based in the University of Rochester Medical Center's Department of Neuroscience. We are interested understanding how our brains process sensory inputs and how these processes may be different in individuals with conditions/diseases/disorders that affect sensory perception. Our mission is to identify and understand the physiology behind these syndromes and connect any differences to common genetic, physiological, and behavioral traits. We hope that our research will furthering our knowledge of these conditions, allow us to develop clinical trials to ameliorate any present deficits and definitively measure that progress, but overall, improve the every day lives of people affected by these conditions.

The CNL at the University of Rochester is looking for children and teenagers with or without autism to help us finish our studies! These studies are not just over the summer, but run all year long. Studies pay participants $18/hr and a lumps sum of $25 per visit for parents for filling out forms and transportation. Studies may involve cognitive testing, our tasks (auditory, visual, tactile) while we record brain waves with EEG, and our tasks while we record brain activity with non-invasive MRI (optional). If you are interested in research participation, please contact the email above for more information about our various studies and how to get involved!
