Main Street Arts

Main Street Arts hosts seven exhibitions each year, ranging from single artists to a huge "Small Works" show featuring art by hundreds of artists. Artists for juried and invitational shows are chosen from around the country, with a strong focus on New York State.

There are four distinct spaces in the gallery:  the main exhibition space, the window-front gallery, the stairwell gallery, and the emerging artist gallery.  There is also a 2,000-volume art resource library that visitors may use at any time.

Single-day and multiple-day classes and workshops are offered for creators of all ages and cover many media from watercolor to oil pastel, metal embossing to ceramics. 

Youth programs at Main Street Arts include our After School Art Experience program for students in grades 1–6 and quarterly Art Saturdays series for children ages 5–12. Plans are in the works for an after school art program for students in grades 7–10 and a weeklong summer workshop. The After School Art Experience is a series of 4 to 6-week sessions (sold individually at $10 per class but designed as a whole series). It is held throughout the school year with a 2-3 week break between sessions. Lessons taught by artists and educators are inspired by the artwork featured in current exhibitions at Main Street Arts. Students have the chance to talk about the artwork as well as working hands-on with a variety of art media.

Our immersive arts experiences gives participants a chance to engage with art made by local, regional, and national artists while flexing their creative muscles by making their own art inspired by what they see at the gallery!

A large part of our mission at Main Street Arts is increasing community outreach and relationship building as related to the arts through offering artistic workshops. We are proud to offer these opportunities to people of all ages in our community who may otherwise not have access to these types of programs.
