ADK-GVC Fashion Show and Chapter Meeting

At 6:30pm Anita O’Brien, Executive Director of Rochester Accessible Adventures, will talk about how communities can make inclusion happen by ensuring people with disabilities have equitable access to health and wellness in the outdoors and beyond. At 7:30 pm our Outside Voices presentation is in honor of Rochester Fashion Week, our featured presentation for the month of October is the first annual ADK Fashion Show!
When it comes to selecting activewear, function usually outweighs form for outdoor enthusiasts. Thruhikers in particular aren’t exactly known for their fashion sense, giving rise to such terms of endearment as “tramp,” “dirtbag,” and “hiker trash.”
To demonstrate that you can hike, bike, paddle and run in style, our chapter has partnered with REI, Medved Walking & Running Outfitters, The Mountaineer (Keene Valley), Land’s End and Orvis to showcase select outdoor fashions, modeled by several of our brave chapter members.
Come see that you can have it all, as we marry form with function to look good on the trails and waterways! As always, the event is free and open to the public, so bring your friends. After the show, the featured retailers will have a selection of products for sale.
There will be a 50/50 raffle at the event, with half of the proceeds benefitting the local nonprofit organization Rochester Accessible Adventures, whose mission is to make inclusion happen by working with communities to provide access to health and wellness activities for people with disabilities. Raffle tickets will be available to purchase at $1 each, 7 for $5 or 15 for $10
