A CHORUS LINE
Spotlight Studios for the Performing Arts announces the auditions for "A Chorus Line"
Auditions:
WHEN: Saturday April 23, 9:30am-noon ~OR~ Saturday April 30, 9:30am-noon
WHERE: Spotlight Studios, 3 Railroad Street in Fairport
WHO: For Performers in grades 8-12
You should only attend ONE audition date. If you are unable to attend either audition date, contact the director at johnb@spotlightarts.com to set up an alternate audition.
PERFORMANCES:
June 17-19, 2016 at Spotlight Studios.
CAST: Calling performers in grades 8-12.
BRING:
Completed Audition Form and Conflicts Sheet (download from SpotlightArts.com)
+Audition Form - print and fill it out to save time at auditions.
+A headshot or school picture, which will not be returned
+A resume, if available
PREPARE:
+Up to 32 bars of two contrasting musical theatre pieces. Please bring sheet music in the correct key. Karaoke tracks or a capella auditions are not allowed.
+You will be asked to read a monologue from the show. Email the director at johnb@SpotlightArts.com if you'd like a copy of this ahead of time.
+Be dressed and ready to dance. You will be taught a short sequence.
REHEARSALS: Rehearsals will be scheduled around cast members conflicts.
COST: There is a $315 fee for those who are cast in the production. Keep in mind not all who audition may be cast. This fee will be due, if cast, at the first read through.

DESCRIPTION: A Chorus Line is a musical with music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Edward Kleban and a book by James Kirkwood, Jr. and Nicholas Dante. Centred on seventeen Broadway dancers auditioning for spots on a chorus line, the musical is set on the bare stage of a Broadway theatre during an audition for a musical. A Chorus Line provides a glimpse into the personalities of the performers and the choreographer as they describe the events that have shaped their lives and their decisions to become dancers.
