Become a Better Birder: Utilizing Birdwatching Apps

Become a better birder by utilizing recent technology for smart phones and computers! This class will talk about the most popular birdwatching apps that can help you identify birds, find birding hotspots in any city, locate rare birds, and keep track of the species you have already seen. We will go over the basics of free programs such as: Cornell's eBird Program, Merlin Bird ID, BirdsEye, and iBird. By the end of this class you will understand how to use these applications and have accounts set up for use in the field.
Please note: This is an indoor class. Please bring your smartphone and laptop to class since will be doing hands on activities with both. Also, please download the following free applications before class: Merlin Bird ID by Cornell Lab, eBird by Cornell Lab, BirdsEye (Bird Finding Guide), iBird North America (free basic version). We also ask that you register a free account on www.eBird.org ahead of time.
