Blogging Basics

We've all heard people talk about how to grow your blog, but how do you start your blog or website? In today's digital age, there is a dizzying array of blogging platforms to choose from and a simple Internet search won't give you a clear answer on the best platform for your purposes. This class will walk you through the pros and cons of three of the most popular content management systems, including Wordpress, Blogger and Wix. At the end of each class, students will have the opportunity to start navigating the various sites and building a basic site.
Please note: This course will offer an overview of each site, not an in-depth look at all features. Recommended for beginner bloggers. Students should bring a laptop.
About the teacher:
Michelle Shippers is a freelance writer, editor, community reporter and PR specialist. She is a frequent contributor to the Democrat and Chronicle and 585 Magazine, where she specializes in women's interest, nonprofit organizations and the arts. She is a graduate of Nazareth College, where she received a degree in Communications and Rhetoric. Through her various professional endeavors, Michelle has had the opportunity to create, maintain and teach the essentials of today's leading blogging tools, including Wordpress, Blogger and Wix.
