Drawing to See

Have you ever wished you could draw, or that you could draw "better"? Did you know that drawing is more about looking than it is about handiwork? This class will introduce you to the basic principles of drawing to see, how to break down complex forms into simple shapes, and also simple practices to improve hand-eye coordination and confidence in mark-making. We'll also learn to pause and examine our visual world for variations in light, shadow, color, line, and shape, as a deeper understanding of what we're looking at makes drawing it much easier!
Please note: Students are asked to bring one or two small, simple objects of your choice, nothing too ornate or complex, to practice drawing. We'll have a few plants and objects in case anyone forgets. If you have a sketchbook and pencils, you may bring them, but materials will be provided.
