THE DRESSER By Ronald Harwood
World War II Britain, a devoted dresser struggles to get his aging, failing actor-manager ready for one last show. The Dresser is a tragicomic play by Ronald Harwood that takes place in a struggling provincial English theater during the London Blitz in World War II. It follows Norman, a devoted dresser, as he attempts to keep his aging and mentally deteriorating actor-manager, "Sir," performing a production of King Lear despite air raids and his own failing health.
The play offers a poignant, humorous, and intimate glimpse into the volatile world of the theater and the symbiotic, sometimes bitter, relationship between the actor and his faithful dresser.

The Ensemble Theatre Company of New York was formed for the charitable and educational purposes of (1) cultivating and developing the public’s interest in and appreciation for theater by producing high-quality performances of forgotten and retired works chosen based on their ability to engage, inspire, and challenge audiences, without regard for commercial viability; (2) by making these performances available to individuals and communities that lack access to professional-quality theater; and (3) encouraging and cultivating talent in the creation and performance of the dramatic arts.
We plan to focus primarily on producing forgotten and retired works. Each play will be chosen based on its ability to engage, inspire, and challenge the audience rather than its commercial viability.
