FACET to Host 2nd Annual Community Spelling Bee
FACET (Fairport-Area Community Education Trust) is hosting its annual fundraiser, the Community Spelling Bee, on Friday, February 26th from 6-9 pm at Johanna Perrin Middle School. This admission free, family-friendly event features three-member teams from area businesses, community organizations, neighborhood groups and educators competing in a collaborative spelling bee format: team members discuss and determine their written response, all of which are simultaneously revealed! The event starts with pizza dinner/refreshments available for purchase from 6-7pm, with the Bee beginning promptly at 7pm. The evening also features a video showcase of the best in Fairport education and a 50/50 raffle, all to benefit enhanced education opportunities for students in Fairport.
FACET is seeking Community Spelling Bee participants: anyone interested in engaging in local, public education and making a difference for students is encouraged to either field their own team OR sponsor a school-based team. This event provides an opportunity for business and education sectors to network and serves as a great team-building event for your organization. Participants may direct their sponsor fee to support either the Teacher Grant Fun, the Arts, or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) initiatives, allowing FACET to impact these vital areas throughout the academic year. Sponsorship forms are available at fairportfacet.org or by contacting Nancy Loughran at (585) 259-9027. Deadline for submission is February 15th.
FACET is an independent, all-volunteer non-profit whose mission is to galvanize community resources for K-12 public education in Fairport. Since 2013, its Teacher Grant Program has provided nearly $13,000 in funding for programs that directly impact students.
