Fiber Arts Theme Week
*The event has already taken place on this date: Sun, 05/26/2019
Nowadays we have easy, reliable access to new clothes, linens, and other textiles. But what did people do for clothing and other fabric needs in the days before ready-to-wear or online shopping? May 21-26 we will be featuring 19th-century fiber arts, so grab your favorite sewist, knitter, or quilter and come on down! Discover how early settlers raised sheep for wool, and flax for linen. Explore the steps involved in harvesting, spinning, and dyeing fibers to create wearable cloth. Visit with village artisans and admire their handiwork while you follow the history of fibers from the Pioneer Settlement to the High Victorian Era. Get hands-on with fiber arts all week!
