The KSMA Fiddle Camp brings together outstanding performers and teachers in Celtic, Old Time and Bluegrass, Contra, Klezmer, Rock, and Gpsy Jazz styles for a week of learning new tunes and techniques, making friends, and collaborating.
We welcome campers of any age who play violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, mandolin, banjo, uulele and/or piano. No experience in fiddling is necessary for camp, but prospective campers should be past “Etude” in Suzuki book 1 and/or be able to play in A, D, and G major.
Our morning camp focuses on learning fiddle tunes and developing fiddle style and technique. For players with no previous experience with fiddling the morning camp is a great place to start! Sessions each morning include learning new tunes and practicing ornamentations, bowing, improvisation, style, accompanying, soloing, and tune writing in a variety of folk traditions.
In the afternoon, we split into fiddle bands, and work on our fiddling skills in small groups led by coaches creating unique collaborations for a performance at the end of the week.
Mornings only: $150
Afternoons only: $200
Full Day: $350
Registration Fee (per family): $15
