This premier festival not only attracts numerous art collectors and appreciators, it also offers many opportunities for the community to participate, discover and explore the contemporary plein air painting movement in their own backyard.  The Finger Lakes Plein Air Competition & Festival culminates at historic Sonnenberg Gardens in Canandaigua in an exclusive Saturday evening opportunity to meet the artists and purchase artwork. A free and open to the public exhibition and sale will be held on the final day of the event Sunday, June 10th.

Our vision is to welcome art buyers and the public alike to an event celebrating the beauty of the Finger Lakes through the lens of the Plein Air experience. We hope the Finger Lakes Plein Air Competition & Festival  encourages artists to join the Plein Air painting community, and participate in this remarkable re-awakening of a renowned art movement. We also believe artists matter greatly. This festival directly connects professional artists and the skilled work they create to our community and art buyers.

As we enter our seventh year, we continue to establish this competition and festival as the preeminent arts event in the New York State’s Finger Lakes region. Through this festival’s significant economic and cultural contributions and the community’s support of the arts and it artists, Canandaigua and the Finger Lakes region continues to thrive as a unique and vibrant arts destination.
