Frederick Douglass’ Chosen Spot Speeches

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sun, 07/14/2019
David Shakes, an actor with Northstar Players in Rochester, will perform as Frederick Douglass. In this event, co-sponsored by Sonnenberg Gardens and the 1816 Farmington Quaker Meetinghouse, Shakes will deliver excerpts of speeches that Douglass originally gave in Canandaigua. This performance will highlight Douglass and the abolitionist movement, highlighting how Douglass often came to Canandaigua to practice speeches before delivering them to larger audiences.
