GLORY DENIED tells the heroic story of Jim Thompson, the longest held prisoner of war in US history. Composer Tom Cipullo’s haunting score evokes his sacrifice and salutes all who have served.
Starring as Older Thompson is baritone Ben Edquist, who is currently a member of the Singing Sergeants, the official chorus
of the United States Air Force.
Following the 80-minute production, FLO will host a panel discussion featuring the composer Tom Cipullo, FLO Artistic Director Stephanie Havey, Ben Edquist, Veteran’s Outreach Center staff, and more. Special guest moderator will be Mona Seghatoleslami.
GLORY DENIED is based on real events. We are thankful to staff from the Veterans Outreach Center (VOC) who are working with Finger Lakes Opera (FLO) to create authentic storytelling. VOC staff will be present at the performance to provide support for those on whom this narrative may weigh heavily. FLO thanks them for their ongoing, vital work with Veterans and their families.
