AREA PREMIERE - Inspired by the controversial 1923 Broadway debut of Sholem Asch’s God of Vengeance, this play with music by Pulitzer Prize winner Paula Vogel explores a troupe of Jewish immigrant actors who risked their lives and careers to perform at a time when art, freedom, and truth were on trial.

by Paula Vogel

Universally hailed as one of Broadway’s “Must-See Plays of 2017,” Indecent is a powerful and entertaining look at Yiddish theatre’s impact on Broadway and an explosive moment in theatrical history.

INDECENT is a rare gem of a play...a powerful story of immigration rights, sensorship, anti-semitism, religious hypocrisy and LGBT themes converging in a play full of music and comedy.

"A play that touches - I mean deeply touches - so much rich emotion about history and the theater, anti-Semitism, homophobia, censorship, world wars, red-baiting and, oh yes, joyful human passion...A gripping and entertaining show with laughter and tears." - Newsday
