Pomp, music and merriment are all part of the day’s July 4 festivities, highlighted by the swearing in of new American citizens on the steps of the Town Hall. You won't want to miss this memorable moment as nearly 50 people from countries all over the world swear their allegiance to the flag. Ceremony begins at 11am.

Throughout the day, see how Americans celebrated July Fourth over the years with visits to Independence Day in different settings around the historical village.

The 50th Anniversary of our nation will be celebrated at the Land Office at 1:00PM. Be part of the ceremony as villagers raise their glasses in honor of the year 1826! Museum staff will be looking for 7 female volunteers from the audience to participate in this year's 1826 July Fourth Celebration. Immediately following the ceremony, head down the road to see a 100-pound anvil fired into the air!
Throughout the day, join in many family-fun activities like the egg toss, sack races, and pea-shooter contest. Visit with the farm animals including the museum's brand new baby piglets! The ladies' base ball team will be hosting a Town Ball match in the afternoon on the Great Meadow.
Hear a musical concert by the Geneseo Cornet Band at Noon on the village square. In 19th-century fashion, a reading of the Declaration of Independence will set the tone for the afternoon' festivities. Sign up for the pie-eating contest - an annual tradition at the museum - or cheer on the contestants as they eat their way through warm cherry pie! Contest begins at 2:30PM at the on the village square.
