Another important ingredient of living a balanced, happy life involves the ability to experience the present moment rather than getting wrapped up in thoughts or storylines about the past or future. A LOT of research has shown the benefits of a mindfulness practice - individuals with chronic pain have even reported lower pain levels. This workshop would be informative - I'd go over the research and the basics of what "Mindfulness" of and where it comes from - and practical with group exercises designed to ease folks into understanding "mindfulness" on the experiential level.
About the teacher:
Susanna Rose is a singer-songwriter whose lyrics have been compared to the simple but deep poems of Emily Dickinson (Mike Davies, UK blog Fatea). Locally, Jeff Spevak of the D&C named her "Rochester's Siren of Loneliness." Susanna also has a M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from St. John Fisher College; as part of her internship, she proposed, implemented and ran an existential poetry group for undergraduate students in 2015. Visit her online at her website.
