A first of its kind musical happening is arriving in Rochester this fall: It's Raining Ukuleles! This day of workshops and musical fun is for anyone interested in getting started on ukulele or those who are already ukulele enthusiasts, from beginner to advanced players. Participants will have an opportunity to attend classes, play with others in jam sessions and ensembles, browse the vendor display room, and connect with the ukulele community.
The event proceeds will benefit RAIHN (Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network) whose mission it is to provide shelter and services to homeless families and assist them in attaining sustainable housing.
Classes include:
Ukulele 101 (Norman Tibbils)
Intro to U-Bass (Justin Rister)
Hawaiian Songs (Deb Guarneiri)
Classical (Baroque) Ukulele (Norman Tibbils)
Pentatonic Pointers (Randy Pollok)
Tin Pan Alley Ukulele (Ron Gordon)
Chord Melody (Ron Gordon)
Registration is $65. Youth (17 and under) tickets are $15. All ticket holders are entered to win a Kala U-Bass. Scholarships available upon request.
