Letter Writing in the Time of Social Distancing
Instructor: Christine Green
Tuesday, May 12, 7 - 8:30pm
S20-M20
Now more than ever we are seeking ways to connect with those we cannot be with in person. Let's embrace letter writing as a way to reach out to friends and family and as a way to add depth to our creative endeavors. In this workshop we’ll explore letter writing as an art that deserves our full attention. We’ll discuss personal letter writing as well as how to use the letter writing format to inform and enhance fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry.
Books: Dracula, Bram Stoker; Fair and Tender Ladies, Lee Smith; The Color Purple, Alice Walker; Carrie, Stephen King --It is not at all necessary to read these before taking the class. Just really good epistolary novels.
