New Growth by Rae Wiggins Opening Reception: October 1, 6-9pm Artist Talk to be Announced Exhibition: October 1 - November 13 RoCo is pleased to host the first solo exhibition of new and recent paintings and drawings by Rae Wiggins in our Lab Space. The works in the exhibition range from figural paintings on corrugated cardboard (a favorite material for the artist) to smaller portraits and gestural multi-media works on board. Rae Wiggins was born and raised out of the mud of Sodus, NY. Their art dives into their experiences growing up black, queer and trans in a conservative small town. Rae channels that unrooted emotion into their works. Using a raw and rigid hand style Rae contains the untouched material of what they felt/feel while their oil paint shows the tone and color appeal towards what the story is portraying.
