Join us for an afternoon of poetry, conversation, and community at Gell’s historic lodge. Bring a poem, a story, a rant, a rhyme—or simply bring yourself and enjoy the company. If you’d like, bring a favorite dish to share, but your presence is contribution enough. We’ll begin with a featured reading by poet Jon Palzer, followed by an open mic where everyone is welcome to share.
We look forward to celebrating the retirement of a beloved teacher, poet, and friend. Jon Palzer taught literature and creative writing for 25 years at Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, NY where he founded the A.A. in Creative Writing program. He is a recipient of the Thomas McGrath Poetry Award and the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities. His poetry has appeared in literary journals including Natural Bridge, the Brooklyn Review, and the Valparaiso Poetry Review. He lives in Victor, NY with his beloved wife, Lisa, and their very demanding cats.
This event is free and open to the public.
