Here is a preview in the artists own words:
I live in upstate New York with my wonderfully supportive husband of 43 years. I started playing with fabric as a young girl by making doll clothes. When my kids were young I sewed their dresses, shorts and tops. That left me with plenty of scrapes. One day, I took a quilting class and a new obsession was born. I enjoy combining prints, textures and colors to produce quilts and wall hangings. Many of my quilts are influenced by my observation of creation . My sister, Julie A Lambert Coleman, a papermaking artist, recognized my work as fabric art and encouraged me to do a show together. In 2007, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Some days it makes sewing difficult, however at the same time allows me to be more creative because I don’t have to worry about perfectly matched corners. To me there is no such thing as a crooked seam in an art quilt.
I have been in a couple of shows and the last few years, including Sisters’ Paper and Fabric at GoArt, Batavia, NY and a Different Path Gallery, Brockport NY. I have taught others how to quilt. I spent 2019-2020 making face masks for friends, family and charities. I have donated several quilts to Project Linus, an organization that provides blankets and quilts for children in the hospitals.
