Raising backyard chickens is becoming a popular hobby for many living in city areas. This class will cover the basics of how to select breeds, prepare for baby chicks, transitioning from brooder to coop, cleaning and maintenance, and basic healthcare for backyard chickens in NY. Knowing how to raise your own chickens responsibly is a very rewarding activity providing more than just fresh, healthy eggs! There will be a closing Q&A session, and all students will leave with a summary packet including some suggested references. Come join us and explore your inner urban-farmer!
