Home should be a sanctuary, a place of shelter, love, and safety. However, for many families in Rochester, this is not the case. Many women find themselves homeless because of domestic violence, illness, or safety issues, just to name a few. We partner with organizations like Willow Domestic Violence Center and the YWCA, who provide them with the support they need to get back on their feet. Home Start Hope provides them with all the household essentials they need to begin their lives again. We provide a personal, one-on-one shopping experience for these women. Everything is brand new and completely free of charge. Not only does this relieve a great financial burden, it gives them a sense of pride and hope for the future. When they do better, their kids do better, and our community is strengthened.
Since 2010, nearly 1,000 women have been able to create a sanctuary for their families, but there are so many more who need us! Together we can empower women and give them hope for a brighter future.
