Teen Weekend: Fire & Crafting w/ Primitive Pursuits

We will use fire to transform materials by coal-burning, and creating pine sap glue to haft our hand crafted stone tools.

This weekend will focus on fire and crafting. We will work with friction fire to make sure everyone has a working friction kit of either bow drill or hand drill. We will use fire to transform materials by coal-burning, and creating pine sap glue to haft our hand crafted stone tools. As always we will gather in community to cook and share stories, experiencing the timelessness of our camping adventure.
This is an overnight program that runs from 10AM Saturday to 10AM Sunday. Drop off and pick up will be at Cornell Cooperative Extension, 615 Willow Avenue, Ithaca, NY 14850.
Students will:
- Create your own working friction fire kit
- Work with stone to create a stone tool kit for wildcrafting
- Coal-burn to create a bowl or spoon, and make pine sap glue for hafting
