*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 02/08/2020
What would you say if no one was listening? Can poetry give us the space to write what we cannot say in everyday life? In this workshop, we’ll look at writers who turn to poetry as a way of expressing taboo, marginal, secret, or buried topics.

What would you say if no one was listening? Can poetry give us the space to write what we cannot say in everyday life? In this workshop, we’ll look at writers who turn to poetry as a way of expressing taboo, marginal, secret, or buried topics. We will talk about how we can create space in our own work to write about experiences and thoughts we find difficult to speak out loud. Generative in- class exercises to help us tap into private subjects. You will leave this workshop with a better understanding of poetic craft and the beginnings of three poems you can revise to completion.
