The Waste Management Open House is a free educational event that provides insight on how Mill Seat Landfill operates from construction and design to renewable energy production. Highlights of the event are landfill tours by bus, kid-friendly games, WM trucks and equipment on display, and prizes. At information booths, you’ll find entities that work in conjunction with the landfill including engineers, contractors, consultants, regulators, vendors and elected officials. Community partners, such as the Churchville Lions Club, Churchville Fire Department, local Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and many others help make this annual event a community wide success.

This year we will be featuring Mill Seat’s Wildlife Habitat Council program at the open house with a focus on pollinators. Pollinators- like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds- are critical to our food and ecosystems. Many pollinator species are on the decline, so we’ve made efforts to enhance their habitat at Mill Seat through a pollinator garden, with plants that provide nectar and food for pollinators. The Open House is perfect for all ages and we encourage you to come explore our facility at this free community event.
