Wool Spinning Workshop

Learn the basics of 19th-century wool spinning at Genesee Country Village & Museum. Participants ages 18 and up will explore different breeds of wool, practice spinning with a drop spindle, and take home yarn they’ve spun themselves, along with a drop spindle to keep.

Wool Spinning Workshop at Genesee Country Village & Museum offers adults the opportunity to learn the basics of a timeless 19th-century skill.
Participants will explore how New Yorkers traditionally spun wool in the 1800s while gaining hands-on experience with a drop spindle. The workshop includes an introduction to different wool breeds, guided practice, and time to hone spinning techniques. Each participant will leave with yarn they’ve spun themselves, as well as a drop spindle to take home.
This workshop is recommended for ages 18 and up, and all participants must purchase a ticket. Class size is limited, and advance registration is required.
