Oatka Festival in LeRoy: July 18 & 19, 2026: Each year the Oatka Festival, held on the banks of the scenic Oatka Creek, starts off with a gala musical parade. Many local churches and organizations provide the food choices and the continuous entertainment is family oriented. Another highlight of the Festival is the arts and crafts show overlooking the scenic Oatka Creek. Festival Site Open 10am-5pm both days. Parade at 11am on Saturday, Car Show at 11am on Sunday, Duck Derby at 5pm on Sunday. Please remember that pets, skateboards and bikes are not allowed on the festival site.

Saturday, July 18, 2026, 5:30 - 8:00 PM at the BANC Nature Sanctuary, 301 Railroad Mills Road, Pittsford: Come learn some simple techniques for identifying trees through observation using our senses. While this is not a substitute for a tree identification class, it should give participants enough information to identify many common trees in our landscape. Shape, limb structure, leaf and needle structure, color, and fruit can provide keys to identifying the trees seen in our area.

In his seven-minute video, The Hikers (2019), Rashid Johnson presents a chance encounter between two Black men in an environment where they never expected to see each other. Two masked men—one ascending, the other descending—come upon each other in the mountains in Aspen, Colorado. They dance, and in an exquisite moment of recognition, they remove their masks that manifest anxiety. What unfolds is a narrative of connection, an exchange of platonic love, and independence.
