Burning Springs Open Gardens Weekend | Beyond the Nest (Rochester)

Burning Springs Open Gardens Weekend

View the burning spring that Senecas revered and showed to French explorers in 1669, walk up the gully to a scenic waterfall, tour the spring-blooming gardens, and watch professional plein air artists painting scenes throughout the property. The private property's owner, who allows access only during this annual event, will give a talk on the site's history at 2 p.m. on each of the two days the site is open. A charitable contribution of $5 to the historical society is appreciated.

A perfect outing for families in the Bristol Valley. A short walk to a scenic stream and gully features natural gas flares that guides will light and explain to visitors. Wear shoes appropriate for water and mud to get up close and to hike up to a beautiful waterfall. This is the Finger Lakes' oldest tourist attraction, appearing on the very first European maps of the region, and has been the site of human activity for thousands of years. Learn that history and enjoy the beautiful flower gardens. Please no dogs. This event is free but we appreciate a $5 donation per person to support the historical society's educational and preservation work.
