Cyanotype Quilting with Devin Gray Hull (@devin.gray) on Wednesday, May 3 - June 21 from 6 - 9pm.
The cyanotype process is unique because it is one of the few photographic processes that can be applied to the fabric. Using photographic and textile art techniques, students will learn the cyanotype process and make compositions using multiple cyanotype images or photograms to form a quilted object. This class is open to those who are new to photography, cyanotype, and/or sewing.
Throughout 8 sessions students will learn how to prepare and expose cyanotype on fabric, students will learn how to prepare an image to be made into a digital negative for exposure, and the basic techniques to make a quilt. Students will choose between hand sewing and machine sewing, learn basic stitches, and how to bind a quilt. Students will leave the class with one 18” x 18” size (max) quilted object. Prior sewing ability is helpful. It is encouraged to bring your own sewing machine if able, however, it is not necessary.
