Fabulous Ferns Walk at BANC
Saturday, August 15, 2026, 10:00 - 12:00: Walk at the BANC Nature Sanctuary, 301 Railroad Mills Road, Pittsford: Did you ever wonder how Interrupted fern was interrupted, and why Sensitive fern is so sensitive? Naturalists Carol and David Southby will take us for a summer morning stroll through the serene, shaded woodland trails of the BANC sanctuary to help answer these questions, and to find out more about beautiful and fascinating ferns.
Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
We’ll explore our fern garden, then take a short walk along woodland trails that lead to boardwalks through our wetland. Along the way we will see ferns that grow in different habitats and share hands-on tips to help you get to know some of the many lush ferns that grow in our nature sanctuary. Please bring a hand lens or magnifier if you have one.
Rain or shine. Optional, bring a brown bag lunch to enjoy on our porch after the walk.
