The US Space & Rocket Center is celebrating the anniversary of this launch with a Global Rocket Launch Challenge on Tuesday, July 16, 2019.
A powerful rocket--a Saturn V--boosted Apollo 11 to the moon in 1969, with Commander Neil Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins, and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin aboard.
We will be joining in the worldwide celebration--the biggest rocket launch across the planet--by launching our own rockets! NASA JPL Solar System Ambassador Jim Rienhardt will help us build and launch our own rockets and teach us a little about the science behind rockets. It is Rocket Science!
10:00 am session will meet at Scribner Road Elementary School, 1750 Scribner Road, Penfield.
2:00 pm session will meet at Penfield Community Center, 1985 Baird Road, Penfield.
Note: children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
