Learn to Weave Dates: February 15-17, 2025 Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM daily Location: Rochester Folk Art Guild, 1445 Upper Hill Road, Middlesex, NY Cost: From $450.00 Join us for an immersive three-day weaving workshop over Presidents Day weekend as part of our Winter Weaving Workshops series! This hands-on experience is perfect for both beginners and those with some fiber arts experience. Each participant will be assigned their own floor loom to explore the creative process of planning, setting up, and weaving unique pieces. During the workshop, you'll start with a demonstration of basic weaving techniques, crafting a plain cotton scarf while learning about color, texture, and design. Depending on your progress, you may have the opportunity to complete one or two additional projects of your own design, receiving personalized guidance from our skilled instructors, Susan Szczotka and Truus Radin. Susan, an accomplished weaver with a passion for intricate textile work, will share her expertise in complex patterns and materials. Truus, a master weaver with over 30 years of experience, brings a wealth of knowledge in traditional and contemporary techniques. Together, they will support you in mastering the essentials of weaving, including project planning, dressing the loom, and troubleshooting common challenges. At the end of the workshop, you'll leave with your finished pieces, newfound skills, and a deeper appreciation for this age-old craft. An overnight stay option is available for those wishing to enhance their crafting experience, providing a peaceful setting to fully immerse yourself in the art of weaving. Whether you're looking to begin your weaving journey or refine your skills, this workshop is an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow artists and embrace the creative spirit of the Rochester Folk Art Guild.
