Making Movies on the Cheap | Beyond the Nest (Rochester)

Making Movies on the Cheap

*The event has already taken place on this date: Thu, 08/27/2015
Using a computer and a smart phone or iPad, you can make a low-budget movie! Use it to impress your friends, to teach your students, or just to have fun. We'll review the tools you need and how to use them. This class is hands on.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

We will use Windows Movie Maker to make a short film.  You can use this film to show off your skills, to teach a lesson, or for anything you want.

Learn how to set up your phone's camera to take better shots.  Plan out extra shots to help with editing.  Piece your film clips together to tell an interesting story.  We'll even discus ways you can share it with friends, family, and the world.

By the end of the class, you will know the basics of filming and editing a short film.

Bring along your laptop and smartphone along with a USB cable to connect the two.

The class is taught by Trevor Johnson-Steigelman, who uses short videos to teach students online and in his college physics courses.
