Local author, theatre critic, and former teacher Michael Lasser will discuss his new book co-authored with Harmon Greenblatt, Say It with a Beautiful Song: The Art and Craft of the Great American Songbook (Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, 2024). The book reviews the Great American songbook’s craft and mastery, uncovering the essential elements and themes of these beloved songs. The authors investigate the qualities that make the songbook a timeless tale of American culture. Using interesting anecdotes and song analysis, they reveal the genius behind the music. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.
