Please join us for our Third Annual Owl Prowl, where we will be looking and listening for owls in at least two separate locations. We will meet at the Seneca Meadows Education Center (1977 NYS Route 414 in Waterloo, NY 13165) at 3:45 PM. Then we will carpool to the Finger Lakes Regional Airport (Martin Road), where Snowy Owls are often seen. Next will be the north end of the airport, where Short-eared Owls are seen often in winter. If we have no luck there, we may have time to drive to Johnson Road (Town of Phelps). There are usually excellent photo opportunities at this location. At about 6:00 PM, on the way back to the Seneca Meadows Education Center, we will stop briefly on Lester Road, where I have had a Screech Owl in the past. Then we will head back to the SMEC, where we will have a pizza dinner. During dinner, we will see a video about owls. Then, after dark, we will drive to the Seneca Meadows Wetland Preserve to listen for more owls, ending by 7:00 PM (depending on the owls). As this is still winter, please dress warmly, with hats, gloves, etc. Bring binoculars and if you don't have your own, we will have some to loan out. This is a free event! All ages are welcome, including families with or without children, groups, and those from under-represented communities. Please register on the form on the right hand side of this message, which is required, for planning purposes. For more information and any questions, please email to fred.leff@audubon.org and/or call the Seneca Meadows Education Center at (315) 539-5089 and leave a detailed message.
