RAIHN Car City
Saturday, April 30th - Sunday, May 1st, 2016
5:00 pm - 7:30 am
Asbury First United Methodist Church, 1050 East Ave., Rochester
Car City gives the community an opportunity to learn about family homelessness in a meaningful, hands-on way by sleeping overnight in their cars. Similar to the idea of a walk-a-thon, participants in Car City raise a registration fee plus pledges to benefit the Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network (RAIHN). “Virtual” participants (raise funds and attend the event, but sleep at home) also welcome!
This year we will be joined by local photojournalist Arleen Thaler, who will share her thoughts and photography of poverty in Rochester. In addition to dinner, a sundae bar, games, and other activities, there will be CAR-aoke, karaoke singing to your favorite songs about cars!
Groups, families and individuals are encouraged to register and participate in the evening’s events. Visit www.raihn.org to make a pledge, create or join a team, and to create your own fundraising page. Registration is $30 for adults and $15 for youth ages 12-18. Raise a minimum of $50 and receive a Car City T-shirt!
Email raihncarcity@gmail.com or call 585-506-9050 for more info.
The Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network (RAIHN) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides shelter, meals, counseling, support and assistance in securing safe, affordable housing for families.
